The Lonelies is a series of photographic images that were created during an 8-week residency at KARST Plymouth, in partnership with CAMP and Arts University Plymouth, as a rebellious response against the impending doom of AI photography and HD digital perfection, to remind herself of what can be created using an analogue approach. Escaping from a long period of inhabiting the digital world, Brittain Edwards returns to a slower and more tactile approach to her photographic art. Armed with herself and her trusty 35mm camera of 29 years, a few roles of black and white film, and lured by the red light of the darkroom, she creates a mystical world of theatrical costumes and set creations, that her macabre and lonely figures inhabit.
